Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if therapy is right for me right now?

If you're holding emotions that feel too heavy to hold alone, therapy can help. You don't need to be in crisis. Many people come simply because they want a safe, private space to process something they haven't been able to talk about with anyone else. A free consultation is a good way to find out if we're a fit, with no pressure to commit.

What if I don't really know what I'm feeling?

That's a completely valid place to start, since emotions after an abortion — especially guilt — can be layered, hard to name, and even conflicting, and you don't need to have any of it sorted out before we make sense of it together, at your pace.

What happens in a free consultation?

A consultation is a relaxed 15–20 minute phone or video call. You can share a little about what's brought you here, ask any questions, and get a sense of whether my approach feels right. There's no obligation, and you won't be asked to share anything you're not ready to share.

What does a typical session look like?

Sessions are 50 minutes via secure, HIPAA-compliant video. We move at your pace — some sessions are simply a space to talk and be heard; others may draw on EMDR or invite attention to your inner experience or your spiritual life. You are always in control of what we explore.

Is everything I share confidential?

Yes. Everything you share is protected by state and federal confidentiality laws. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), I'm bound by a strict code of professional ethics. There are a few standard exceptions I'll explain fully before we begin working together.

Can therapy help if my abortion was years or decades ago?

Yes. There's no expiration date on grief or healing. Many people hold unprocessed feelings about an abortion for years before finding support. Whether it happened last month or decades ago, it's never too late to tend to something that still feels tender.

Do I need a particular spiritual belief to work with you?

Not at all — my approach honors the spiritual side of healing without requiring any specific belief, so wherever you stand spiritually, all of that is welcome here.

Do you take insurance?

I accept most insurances. Please don't let cost be a barrier to reaching out — I'm happy to discuss options during your free consultation.
